Floyd perseveres for victory

Gavin Floyd allowed 3 runs to the Boston Red Sox in the 2nd inning, but hung in there long enough for his team to come back for a 7-4 win. Gavin went a total of 6.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 9 hits and 1 walk, leaving the game with a 5-4 lead. Gavin is now 6-5, 3.84 for the White Sox. (#35 for the HomeSide)

In Washington, the National beat the Phillies, 2-1, holding the Fightin' Phils to just 5 hits, 2 by Ryan Howard. Mike Stutes (2.02) threw 2 perfect relief innings and Antonio Bastardo (1.33) walked 1 and struck out 1 in his inning of work...........In Chicago, Michael Bourn had 2 hits, including the game-winning 2-run single in the 7th inning as the Astros beat the Cubs, 3-1. Bourn (.273) also stole 2 bases, to give him a major league leading 22 on the year. Sergio Escalona faced 3 hitters, retiring 2 and plunking the other one!..............In Toronto, Kyle Drabek had an outing to forget. For the first time this year, Drabek looked frustrated and uncomfortable on the mound as he walked 3 and gave up 3 doubles and 4 runs, recording just 2 outs in the Jays 13-9 loss to the Indians.

The New York Mets have placed Taylor Buchholz on the 15-day DL, with shoulder fatigue.
