short and sweet

Lacking for time, here it is, short and sweet-

Tough game for Phillies last night, BUT Kyle Kendrick gave us 3 good shut out innings before the rain came, and Mike Stutes and Antonio Bastardo got 2 outs each, so we got a total of 4.1 shut out innings in a game the team lost, 4-3. Carlos Ruiz was 1 for 2 in the game, and Ryan Howard and Domonic Brown each walked 2 times.

In Houston, the Cardinals battered Jay Happ for 6 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks in 5.1 innings as St Louis took a 9-2 win. Sergio Escalona made his cameo, using 2 pitches to get his out. (The Astros use him for an inning or less often, which usually makes him available everyday. It is a nice little niche he has fit into.) Michael Bourn was 1 for 4 and was actually thrown out stealing for only the 3rd time this year, in 29 attempts.

In Allentown, John Mayberry hit a walk off home run in the bottom of the 9th to give the IronPigs a 6-5 win over Durham. The knock made a winner of Mike Zagurski, who had thrown a 1-2-3 inning in the top half. In the 6th inning, R.J. Swindel came on for Durham, and recorded one out, keeping the game tied at 5-5 at the time..........In Reading, Ryan Edell pitched 7.2 strong innings for the R-Phils, allowing just 1 run on 5 hits to pick up his 5th win. Home runs by Tim Kennelly (a 2-run shot in the 7th to give Reading a 2-1 advantage) and back-to-back shot by Matt Rizzotti (#11) and Cody Overbeck (league leading 17th) in the 8th sealed the deal in a 4-1 Reading victory. Justin DeFratus got the final 4 outs for his 6th save.

In Scranton, Greg Golson (.273) a single, a double, 2 walks, RBI for Yankees

In Midland, Texas, Jonathan Villar (.241 since promotion) double, walk, 2 RBI stolen base for Corpus Christi

In Manchester, Travais d'Arnaud (.312) double, home run #6, RBI, 2 runs scored and Anthony Gose (.253) single, double, RBI, stolen base #28
