Taylor, Berry, Castro, Murphy all go deep

In Salt Lake City, Michael Taylor (.302) had 3 hits, including his 6th home run, and Adrian Cardenas added 2 more hits and scored twice for Sacramento as the River Cats beat the Bees, 11-5............In Jackson, Quintin Berry(.275) was 1 for 5, but the 1 was a big 3-run homer (his 1st) for the Mudcats, as Carolina beat the Generals, 7-0. Berry's BlueClaw teammate, Jason Donald, has been rehabbing in Akron, and has gone 2 for 5 in the last 2 night for the Aeros.

In Bowie, Tyson Brummett made the spot start for Reading and got through 4 innings, giving up just 1 run on 5 hits and a walk in Reading's 5-3 win over the BaySox. Justin DeFratus picked up his 8th save of the season. Paco Figueroa and Carlos Rivero had 2 hits each, and Matt Rizzotti and Tuffy Gosewisch each drove in a run for the R-Phils.

In Dunedin, Leandro Castro belted his 3rd home run in 2 days, but Julio Rodriguez could not hold a 5-1 advantage, and the Threshers fell to the Jays, 6-5. J-Rod was very good through 5 innings, but could not record an out in the 6th, pitching to 4 hitters and allowing them all to reach. Eric Pettis came on and allowed all 3 runs to score. Pettis finished the game and while he did blow that save, he has been pitching excellent ball since joining Clearwater. How about a 0.72 ERA. That's 2 earned runs in over 25 innings covering 13 appearances. Darin Ruf (.295) and Joe Savery (.307) had 2 hits each for Clearwater.

In Lakewood, the BlueClaws completed a 4-game sweep of the Suns, winning a suspended game from Tuesday with an infield hit by Travis Mattair, and riding the momentum of that hit, and Jim Murphy's 3-run 1st inning home run in the second game to a 9-5 win. For Murphy, it was his 14th home run of the year, and he now has 49 RBI. Fellow SAL All Star Garrett Claypool picked up his 2nd win of the season as Edgar Duran (.272), Michael Dabbs (.301) and Domingo Santana (.270) all had 2 hits for the Claws, who are 33-32 with 4 games left in the first half. If Lakewood can gain a split in their final 4 games in West Virginia, they will have their 11th consecutive half of over .500 ball. Considering the rate of turnover this teams gets, it is a fantastic achievement.
