I was away for the weekend, so I leave you to fend for yourself for the results, but a few things caught my eye. The first is Carlos Carrasco, who left his start after 3 innings Sunday with "elbow tightness". He is being re-evaluated on Monday as the team returns to Cleveland.
The second thing that jumps out at me is Domingo Santana, who hit .361 on the 9-game road trip, hitting a home run in each series and knocking in 6. The 18-year old is looking more confident at home plate, and joins a long list of BlueClaws who had to go back to Williamsport, only to come back stronger the next year. (Leandro Castro and Sebastian Valle are the 2 most recent who come to mind.) I look forward to the Claws upcoming home stand to see if Santana can keep it going!
Freddy Galvis is 7 for his last 19 (.368), Matt Rizzotti is still hitting over .400, Cody Overbeck has hit 6 home runs and has 18 RBI, and the first place Reading Phillies, managed by Mark Parent, are now 11-5 and throw Austin Hyatt (2-0, 1.69 in 3 starts so far) in Erie Monday night.
Finally, I have to mention Jonathan Pettibone. The Clearwater hurler, who won 8 games for Lakewood last year, has been nothing short of spectacular! In 3 starts, "Bone" has thrown 24 innings, allowing only 1 earned run, posting a 3-0, 0.38 mark so far.
