Sanchez, Byrd combine for victory
In the first game of a doubleheader in Huntsville, Alabama, the Huntsville Stars beat the Carolina Mudcats, 8-6. Jesus Sanchez started for the Stars, delayed by a day because of rain, and had a rough start. He allowed 3 runs in the first inning, after getting the first 2 hitters out, and was charged with 6 runs altogether, 4 earned, on 7 hits (including 2 home runs), 4 walks and 2 wild pitches, striking out 5. He was relieved by Darren Byrd, who threw 2 scoreless innings (1 hit, 1 walk, 1K) to record the win.........In Tacoma, Adrian Cardenas was 2 for 4 for Sacramento in the River Cat's 3-0 win over the Rainiers. "A.C." is now hitting .448!!.........In Syracuse, Scott Mathieson threw a 1-2-3 9th inning, striking ut 2 to record his 1st save of the season, as the IronPigs beat the Chiefs, 4-2.
