Claws hit road, break out
After scoring just 11 runs on their season opening 7-game home stand, Lakewood took to the road Friday night and registered season high in hits and runs scored, pounding Hagerstown, 8-4. Geancarlo Mendez had 3 hits and a walk, Torre Langley had 3 hits and 2 RBI, and Domingo Santana chipped in with 2 more as Lakewood found 13 hits in their mostly slumbering bats! David Buchanan made his 2nd very good start, going 5.2 innings, allowing 4 runs, just 2 earned, on 4 hits and 3 walks, striking out 4 to record his first win. Tyler Knigge continues to throw strong relief, another 2.1 innings of scoreless ball (2 hits, 1 walk, 4 Ks), and Eric Pettis tossed a 1-2-3 9th to finish it off. Knigge is unscored upon in 3 appearances, a total of 6.1 innings, only 2 hits and 1 walk, with 6 strike outs. Buchanan retired #1 prospect Bryce Harper 3 times, before he reached on a walk by Knigge in the 7th. Weather permitting, Jessie Biddle will go on Saturday night.
