Well, it was bound to happen, and the Lakewood BlueClaws offense finally exploded Wednesday afternoon in Asheville, pounding out a franchise record 18 runs on 21 hits, including 2 6-run outbursts, taking out the Tourists, 18-8. Stephen Batts had 3 hits (including his first 2 home runs of the year) and a walk, and drove in 5 to lead the attack; Miguel Alverez had 4 hits, including 3 doubles, and Jeremy Barnes and Domingo Santana also had 3 hits apiece. Santana in particular seems to have found his rhythm, and is 7 for 16 over the last 4 games. Catcher Jeff Lanning, who replaced Torre Langley went Torre went on the DL, had 2 doubles, scored 2 runs and drove in 4 in his Lakewood debut! Edgar Duran (.317) had 2 more hits and is 7 for 13 over the last 3 games.
David Buchanan went 5 innings and notched his second win of the year, allowing 4 runs, 3 earned, on 7 hits and a walk. Hector Neris had his first shaky outing, giving up 4 runs( 3 earned) on 5 hits in just 1 inning of work, but Bryan Morgado (1-2-3 inning, 2nd hold) and Eric Pettis ( 2 IP, 2 hits, 1 walk) restored order.
