Moose on the loose!
In Allentown, the IronPigs split a doubleheader with the Yankees, with Scranton taking the opener, 6-4. Greg Golson had a single and scored a run for the Yanks. Mike Schwimer tossed 2 innings for Lehigh Valley, allowing a run on 3 hits and 1 walk, striking out 2. In game 2, the Pigs got their split with a 5-3 victory. Andrew Carpenter had a tough start, lasting only 2 innings and giving up 3 runs on 6 hits. Scott Mathieson came in and restored order, going 3 strong innings and allowing only 1 hit and 4 walks, striking out 2 and keeping Lehigh Valley in the game, setting up the come from behind win.......In Reading, the R-Phils got only 5 hits, and made 4 errors, dropping a 5-1 decision to Erie. Austin Hyatt was very good, going 6 and allowing just 1 run on 5 hits and 1 walk, striking out 7. B.J. Rosenberg gave up 2 hits in 1.2 innings, and was bailed out by Phillippe Aumont. Aumont got into trouble himself in the 9th inning, and was the victim of poor defense (as the Phils made all their errors in the Sea Wolves 4 run rally), giving up 4 UNearned runs on only 1 hit, before Jacob Diekman came on for the final 2 outs. "Diek" stranded 2 more inherited runners to avoid further damage. One Reading highlight was Tim Kennelly throwing out a runner from right field.............In Clearwater, the Threshers took a 7-4 win from Daytona. Travis Mattair belted another home run, a 3-run job in the 3rd inning, and added another hit to raise his average to .300. Darrin Ruf had 2 singles, a double, a walk, and scored twice to add to the shark attack, and Cesar Hernandez had a single, a double and a walk, scoring a run and driving one in. Jonathan Pettibone went 6, and allowed just 1 UNearned run on 5 hits, NO walks and 3 Ks, to improve to 2-0, 0.53 in his 3 starts so far.
