Braves hammer Phils

On Saturday in Philadelphia, the Braves got to Roy Halladay for 7 runs in less than 2 innings en route to an 6-2 win over the Phillies. Ryan Howard homered for the 4th straight day, and Darin Ruf drove in the other run with a pinch hit sacrifice fly.  It was the first major league RBI for Darin.   BJ Rosenberg (2 IP, 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 K), Jake Diekman (1.2 IP, 4 walks, 2 Ks) and Justin De Fratus (1 IP, 1 run, 2 hits, 1K) all saw action out of the pen,  Carlos Ruiz (.330) had a hit in 4 at bats, and Domonic Brown (.245) had a walk in 3 plate appearances.  Michael Bourn (.274) had a single, a double 2 walks and scored twice for the Braves.

The Phillies fell 4 games behind St. Louis, who defeated the Cubs 5-4 in 10 innings.  Adrain Cardenas had another pinch hitting appearance and lined out for the Cubs.......In Detroit, the Tigers blasted the Twins, 8-0.  Quintin Berry (.272) was 1 for 4, stole his 20th base without being caught, and scored a run for Detroit.........In St. Pete, the Rays beat Toronto, 11-5.  Anthony Gose was 1  for 4 and scored a run for the Jays...........In Denver, the Diamondbacks outscored the Rockies, 8-7.  Mike Zagurski allowed a run on 2 hits in .2 innings, and received his 3rd hold for Arizona, and Josh Outman walked the only hitter he faced for Colorado.

Both the Reds and the Giants clinched their divisions.
