R-Phils take game 1

Wednesday night in Reading, Tommy Joseph and Leandro Castro hit back-to-back home run in the bottom of the 8th inning to give the Reading Phillies a 4-2 win over Trenton in game 1 of their playoff series.  Austin Hyatt was the starter, going 6.1 inning and giving up just 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks, s triking out 4.  The win went to Tyler Knigge, who threw 1.2 inning of scoreless relief.   MVP Darin Ruf had a double and a walk for Reading, who now lead the best of 5 series 1 game to none.  Game 2 is in Reading tonight.

In Frisco, Jonathan Singleton hit a game tying home run in the top of the 8th inning for Corpus Christi, but the Hooks lost to the RoughRiders, 6-5 when Frisco scored in the bottom of the 9th.  Singleton also had an RBI double in the game for the Hooks..........In Indianapolis, Greg Golson was 1 for 5 for Charlotte as the Knights beat the Indians,  8-1................In Lake Elsinore, Domingo Santana (0 for 3) and the Lancaster JetHawks were shut out on 3 hits as the Storm took game 1 of their series, 1-0.  The JetHawks face elimination in game 2 tonight.


In Cincinnati, the Phillies beat the Reds, 6-2.  Ryan Howard (.239) and Domonic Brown (.240) had a hit each, with Brown knocking in his 13th run this year.  Antonio Bastardo retired the only 2 hitters he faced for the Phillies and Alfredo Simon threw 2.2 innings of scoreless relief for the Reds..........In Toronto, Anthony Gose had a single, a triple and scored a run for the Jays in their 6-4 win over the Orioles.
