Taylor Buchholz recorded his 3rd "hold" of the year with a scoreless inning against the Dodgers in the Mets' 6-3 win. Buchholz has a stellar 1.53 ERA so far!

The Phillies have placed Roy Oswalt on the DL with back inflammation, and recalled Scott Mathieson from Lehigh Valley. Kyle Kendrick will make Oswalt's scheduled start today against the Braves. The Phillies have also put Chance Chapman back on the Reading-Allentown shuttle, sending him back to Reading. The Scranton Yankees have placed Greg Golson on the DL, and in another interesting note, the Baltimore Orioles have assigned Alfredo Simon to the Bowie BaySox. Simon had faced some legal issues for firing his gun in celebration during a New Year's Eve celebration in his native Dominican Republic, and now begins his rehab assignment for the O's.

Speaking of rehab assignments, Domonic Brown belted a 3-run home run lasy night for Lehigh Valley in the IronPig's 10-7 loss in Columbus, with Mathieson throwing a scoreless frame before his call-up. Jason Donald was 0 for 5 for the Clippers, and Carlos Carrasco made a rehab start last night for Akron, going 3.2 innings as he rebuilds his arm strength. Indian's manager Manny Acta says he expects Carrasco back soon.......... Robinson Tejeda made a rehab appearance for the Omaha Storm Chasers last night, giving up an UNearned run on 2 hits in his inning of work against Oklahoma City. The RedHawks won the game, 3-2 with Sergio Escalona picking up his 2nd save for Oklahoma City, despite allowing a 9th inning run.

Josh Outman continues to work his way back to the majors, picking up his second win for Sacramento in the River Cat's 6-2 win over Colorado Springs. Outman went 5, and allowed 2 runs on 6 hit (2 dingers) and 4 walks, throwing 93 pitches. Adrian Cardenas (.352) had 2 more hits, scored twice and drove in a run for the Cats.........Zack Segovia continues to struggle for Nashville. After Zack pitched a scoreless 8th inning in a 5-5 tie, and Nashville scored 2 in the 9th to take the lead, Segovia gave up 3 runs to Round Rock Express and was saddled with the loss. Zack is 1-2, with a 5.65 ERA for the Sounds.

Quintin Berry's resurgence continues!! "Q" played for third straight day for Carolina, and had 2 more hits, a walk, drove in a run, stole his 5th base in 3 days, and scored 2 runs, providing the catalyst in the Mudcat's 8-5 win over Montgomery. Berry is now 7 for 20 (.350) along with 8 walks which puts his on base percentage at a robust .552!! ...........In Huntsville, Alabama, Jesus Sanchez (2-2, 3.94) started the game for the Stars, throwing 5 innings, and allowing 4 runs(only 2 earned) on 6 hits and 3 walks, and received no decision in a game won by Jacksonville 12-11 in 12 innings..........In Manchester, Anthony Gose had a single, a triple, drove in 2 runs, scored one, and stole 2 more bases (that's 12) to help New Hampshire defeat Binghamton, 7-3. Bobby Korecky came off the DL and got into the win column, recorded 2 outs in the 8th and then benefiting from the Fisher Cat's 5 run rally in the bottom half! Travis d'Arnaud, the other HomeSider on that roster, is currently on the DL.
