Happ tops Mets

Jay Happ put in a strong 6 innings in Houston last night, and was credited with the win in the Astros' 7-3 victory over the Mets. Happ gave up 2 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks, and struck out 4 to improve to 3-4, 5.40 on the year. The win is #22 in the major leagues this year for a former BlueClaw. Michael Bourn (.265) had a triple and a walk, and scored a run for Houston.

In Oakland, Gavin Floyd was not as lucky. Unable to get out of the 5th inning, Floyd surrendered 5 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks to the Athletics, absorbing the loss in a 6-2 Oakland victory. Gavin is now 4-3, 4.22 for the Sox.

In Atlanta, the Braves beat the Phillies, 5-3. Kyle Kendrick allowed a run on 2 hits and a walk in just .2 innings, throwing a little gas on J.C. Romero's fire, but Antonio Bastardo threw a scoreless 9th, lowering his ERA to a splendid 1.26!! Ryan Howard was 0 for 4, and Carlos Ruiz pinch hit, and was hit by a pitch.
