Tuesday's wire

The Threshers have placed Travis Mattair on the disabled list, retroactive to May 1, so he will be eligible to come back Sunday. Eric Pettis has been promoted to Clearwater from Lakewood, and will take Mattair's spot on the roster for now. Lakewood receives 20 year old Domincian Lisalberto Bonilla to replace Pettis. Lakewood also reactivated Torre Langley from the DL and placed Jeff Lanning on the DL.

In Clearwater Tuesday, Jarred Cosart evened his record at 3-3 with a 6 inning stint in which he gave up just 1 run on 5 hits and 3 walks, striking out 3. Ebelin Lugo and Derrick Loop (0.00 ERA in 12.1 innings) completed the 3-1 win over Lakeland. Brian Gump (.333, triple, home run, 2 runs scored), Darin Ruf (.272, single, double, RBI) and Cesar Hernadez all had 2 hits for the Threshers, who have won 4 in a row, and 6 of 7.

In Lakewood, the BlueClaws spotted the Sand Gnats a 3-run lead in the top of the 1st, but came from behind for a 4-3 win to salvage a game in their four game set. Garrett Claypool overcame a shaky start (walk, plunk, walk, double, 3 runs!) and put in 5 innings, allowing just 1 more hit the rest of his day. He walked 2 and struck out 6. After an inning by Phillies pitcher J.C. Romero, Colby Shreve (2 IP, 2 hits, WIN) and Juan Sosa (1-2-3 9th, SAVE) finished the job. Geancarlo Mendez (.344) had 2 more hits and a walk, Carlos Perdomo had a single and an RBI-triple, and Stephen Batts belted his 3rd home run.
