Lakewood takes game 2, 1 win away!

Using the now familiar formula of great pitching and clutch hitting, the Lakewood BlueClaws beat Greenville 3-0 on Tuesday night in Lakewood to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-5 game series.

Jesus Sanchez, who won 10 games during the season, was the starter and winning pitcher, a result of 6 innings of 3-hit ball. Jesus walked 3 and struck out 5 to record the victory. Austin Hyatt was very good, recording 6 outs, 4 by Ks, and Santo "lights out" Hernandez has been living up to the nickname, posting his 3rd post-season save!!

The BlueClaws broke the scoreless tie in the 5th on a single by Jeremy Hamilton and another RBI hit, this one a double, by Troy Hanzawa. Harold Garcia and Sebastian Valle had RBI in the 2-run 6th and it proved to be enough. Jim Murphy had 2 excellent plays, one digging out a throw from Greg Dobbs at third, saving a run when the game was still scoreless, and a running catch of a foul ball down the right field line. The BlueClaws need only 1 more win to secure their second S.A.L. Championship in the last 4 years.

Game 3 is in Greenville Thursday night.
