Reading sweep has them back on track

Monday night, Reading won both games of a doubleheader from Bowie, winning both games in extra innings. In game 1, Mike Spidale, Domonic Brown and Tim Kennelly had 3 hits each, with Brown getting a triple and 2 RBI, and Spidale the game winning hit in the 11th inning of the 5-4 victory. After Yohan Flande got through 5.2 innings allowing 4 runs, B.J. Rosenberg, Mike Zagurski, Sergio Escalona and Mike Schwimer all pitched scoreless relief.

Kevin Mahar got the game winning hit in the bottom of the 9th to give Reading a 4-3 win and the walk off sweep. The 2 wins put Reading at 71-63, 1.5 games ahead of Erie in the race for the final playoff spot. The R-Phils will finish with 8 games in the final 7 days on the road, 3 in New Britain, and 5 in Norwich against the first place Defenders.
