Korey Noles gave the Lakewood BlueClaws a much needed shot in the arm Thursday night in Salisbury, throwing 6.2 innings, allowing only 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 7. For Noles, it was his 15th win at 3 different levels so far this year. Jacob Diekman retired all 4 hitters he faced, before Ryan Bergh finished off the Shorebirds with Lakewood winning, 8-2.
Jim Murphy (.271) had 3 hits and 2 RBI (64), and Troy Hanzawa drove in 3 with a triple and a sac fly. Travis d'Arnaud had 2 hits and his team leading 70th RBI, and Jeremy Hamilton added a single and a double as the middle of the batting order has regained their batting eye just in time to start the playoffs.
Matthew Way (3-1, 2.81 in 5 starts) will make his final start of the regular season tonight as Lakewood and Delmarva go at it in game 2 of the 5-game set. Sebastian Valle, recently recalled from Williamsport will catch tonight, d'Arnaud will DH.
