Threshers win marathon

The Clearwater Threshers outlasted the Brevard County Manatees, 4-3 in 17 innings Tuesday night. Drew Naylor was excellent, tossing 7 shut out frames, giving up just 4 hits and 1 walk. After Julian Sampson gave up 2 runs to tie it at 2-2, the bullpens took over. Chris Kissock struck out 4 in 2.1 innings, and after Dan Brauer gave up a run in the 14th, his 4th inning of work, Fidel Hernadez got a big 2-out single to score Mike Durant and the game continued. Esmelvin Jimenez threw 3 more shut out innings and picked up the win when Derrick Mitchell singled home Fidel with the winning run in the 17th!! It was Mitchell's only hit in 8 at bats. Joel Naughton had a double and 2 singles, and Mike Durant had 4 walks.
