2. Long Island native stops Threshers on 1 hit

The Threshers were held to 1 hit on Tuesday, baffled by Daytona's Robert Whitenack. Whitenack, from North Massapequa on Long Island, struck out 12 Threshers, giving up just 1 UNearned run on 1 hit over 6 innings. A trio of relievers finished Clearwater off. Alan Schoenberger got the only hit, a 6th inning triple. Jarred Cosart made the start for Clearwater and went 5 innings. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits and a walk, and struck out 3. Ebelin Lugo then allowed 2 runs in his 2 innings, before Jordan Ellis tossed a scoreless 9th............Tim Kennelly's bases loaded walk with 2 outs in the 11th inning gave the Reading Phillies a hard fought 3-2 win over New Hampshire. Matt Rizzotti had 3 more hits, including a double, and is hitting .458! Freddy Galvis added 2 hits, and both Mike Spidale and Steve Susdorf threw out runners on the bases. Anthony Gose had 3 hits for New Hampshire, but Kennelly caught him stealing second in his only attempt. Josh Zeid put in another strong performance, going 6.2 innings, holding the Fisher Cats to 2 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks, picking up 5 Ks. B.J. Rosenberg got out of the 7th, and after getting out of trouble in the 8th, yielded to Justin De Fratus. Justin was outstanding, retiring all 9 hitters he faced, striking out 6 of them to notch the win......Both Lakewood and Lehigh Valley were rained out Tuesday. The IronPigs travel to Rochester Wednesday, the BlueClaws will try to play 2 tonight.
