Shreve pitches Claws to win

The Lakewood BlueClaws took the opening game of their series from Greensboro, 2-1, behind a strong pitching effort from Colby Shreve. Shreve went 6 innings and allowed just 1 UNearned run on 4 hits and 1 walk, picking up 7 strike outs. He was at his most impressive right at the end of his stint. Greensboro had runners at 2nd and 3rd, with 1 out and BlueClaws leading, 2-1. Shreve seized control, and struck out Marcell Ozuna and Aaron Dudley, both swinging. Tyler Knigge threw 2 perfect innings and Eric Pettis threw a 1-2-3 9th to get the save. Lakewood's offense continues to struggle, but they got just enough to win on Monday. A first inning double by Zack Collier, a ground out by Edgar Duran moving him to 3rd, and a sacrifice fly from Jeremy Barnes got Lakewood on the board in the first frame. A double by Aaron Altherr, and a single from Anthony Hewitt provided the 2nd tally. It was the first hit of the season for both of those guys. Considering they have only scored 5 runs in 4 games, I cannot complain about being 2-2.
