Friday night in Rochester, the Columbus Clippers held a 3-0 advantage over the Red Wings going to the bottom of the 8th inning, when the Wings exploded for 3 runs to tie the game. Randy Ruiz had a run scoring single in the middle of the Rally, one of 2 hits for "Homie" on the night. Randy is hitting .252, with 17 RBI so far for Rochester. The Clippers won the game with a run in the 10th.
In Tuscon, Jesus Merchan had a single and drove in a run with a sac fly as the Sidewinders topped Nashville, 6-5 in 10 innings. Merchan is hitting .369, with 12 RBI for the Diamondback's affiliate.
In Las Vegas, the Memphis Redbirds took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the 6th against the 51s, who rallied for 2 in the 6th, 1 in the 7th and 1 more in the 8th to pull out a 4-3 win. Kevin Howard was 1 for 2 and a walk, and is hitting .282 with 21 RBI for Vegas.
A glance at the rosters of the independent Atlantic League, which has 3 teams in New Jersey, shows that Matt Sweeney is once again with the Newark Bears and Danny Gonzalez will return to the Lancaster Barnstormers to start 2008. The league starts play next week.
