Korecky picks up a hit, and a win!!
The Minnesota Twins won a 7-6, 12-inning victory from the Rangers and Bobby Korecky was summoned into this one with the score tied, and the bases loaded with 1 out, in the 11th inning. Korecky retired Ian Kinsler and Michael Young without allowing a run to score. Then Bobby got a piece of history. The Twins had forfeited their DH when they put their original DH, Brendan Harris in to play shortstop, and Korecky came to bat and came up swinging. He hit a first pitch fastball off Frank Francisco for a single. It was the first hit by a Twins pitcher in an AL game since the DH began in 1973. The Twins did not score in that inning, so Korecky went back out and pitched a 1-2-3 12th inning, to set the stage for the winning rally. When Howie Clark lined a game winning double, Korecky picked up his 1st major league win. Bobby's stats in the majors: 6 appearances, 7 innings, 2 runs, 4 hits, 3 walks, 6 strike outs, 1-0, 2.57.
