Clearwater falls, 4-3
The Daytona Cubs scored 3 in the 8th inning to beat Clearwater on Monday by the score of 4-3. Clearwater scored 3 times in the first 2 innings. Quintin Berry had 2 hits, a walk, scored a run and stole his 13th base (in 17 tries), and Tuffy Gosewisch had a single , 2 doubles, scored a run, and drove one in. For a while, it was looking like all Edgar Garcia (5-1) was going to need. Through 7 innings, Garcia had allowed just 1 run on 6 hits, with 8 strike outs. He started the 8th inning with strike out #9, getting Jonathan Wyatt swinging. Then a single and the only walk of the game issued by Edgar, and his evening was done. Brian Schlitter came in, gave up a walk and a double, and the game was over. In fairness I must add, Schlitter has been good this year-2.81 ERA, but he couldn't get it done last night. Zack Segovia (0-1) will make his 3rd start for Clearwater.
