The Clearwater Threshers took advantage of 3 Jupiter errors in the first inning to score 3 times without the benefit of a hit, en route to a 6-5 victory. Jimmy Rollins played shortstop for Clearwater, who managed to win the game despite getting only 5 hits. John Urick (.261) picked up 2 RBI, to tie Gus Milner with 18 for the team lead. Dan Brauer made it through 4 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks, and Andrew Cruse picked up the win in relief. Brian Schlitter recorded his 4th save.
In Reading, Binghamton out-slugged Reading 9-7 on Wednesday. Greg Golson (.310) had 3 hits to lead the Reading attack, and Lou Marson (.330) added 2 hits and 2 RBI. Jason Donald (.350)had 2 walks, and then hit a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 9th inning to make the final score close. Josh Outman pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief and has adjusted to life in bullpen very well so far.
In Phoenix, Kyle Kendrick got the assignment for Philadelphia, and pitched 6 innings against the D-Backs. Kyle gave up 3 runs on 10 hits, but left the game in a 3-3 tie. Ryan Howard was 0 for 4, striking out 3 more times and falling to .163. UGH!! Carlos Ruiz (.238) was 1 for 4 and scored a run.
