In Daytona, Dan Brauer's nightmare season goes on and on. Sunday, Dan struggled through 4.1 innings of work, giving up 5 earned runs on 9 hits and 2 walks, as the Cubs topped the Threshers, 7-5. Brauer's numbers are alarming. The last 4 appearances, he has managed 15.2 innings, 19 earned runs on 31 hits. His ERA for the season is 8.06. His season will definatley be on my mind when I see Clearwater pitching coach Steve Schrenk next week in Florida.
Offensively, Fidel Hernandez and Matt Spencer (single, double, walk, 2 RBI) had 2 hits each for Clearwater. Gus Milner had a walk, a double, 2 RBI and scored a run. P.J. Antoniato (single, RBI), Adrian Cardenas (.338, triple, walk, run scored) and Clay Harris (.310, double, 2 runs) all made contributions. Ron Hill came in for Brauer, and gave up 2 runs on 4 hits in 1.2 innings of work, before Reymond Cruz (6 up, 6 down) shut the door on Daytona.
