Binghamton scored a run in the top of the 12th inning in Reading Tuesday night to defeat the R-Phils 2-1. Drew Carpenter pitched well enough to win, but had no such luck. Carpenter went 7, gave up 1 run on 5 hits and 1 walk, striking out 5 and left the game with the score tied at 1-1. Josh Outman pitched a scoreless 8th and Pat Overholt was perfect for his 2 frames. Neil Sellers had 3 hits, including a double, and the only RBI on Reading's side of the ledger. Jason Donald added 2 hits and 3 walks. Eude Brito was the winning pitcher for the Mets, picking up the last 4 outs for Binghamton, recording his first win of 2008. The 2 teams go at it again Wednesday night, Shane Youman will make his first start after 9 relief appearances.
In Clearwater, Tyson Brummett made his first start for the Threshers since being promoted from Lakewood, and looked good. Brummett went 7, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits and 1 walk, striking out 5. The score was 2-2 when he departed in favor of Brett Harker. Brett pitched a scoreless 8th and picked up a win when the Threshers scored in the bottom half of the inning, John Urick picking up his 16th RBI to give Clearwater their margin of victory. The Threshers stay at home to face Jupiter Wednesday, Dan Brauer (0-2, 8.76) will get the ball.
