The best was in the west

The best news for HomeSiders came in Arizona on Sunday and let's start with one of my personal favorites. Gavin Floyd started and threw 4 shut out innings for the White Sox, allowing NO hits and just 2 walks, striking out 2 in the Sox 9-4 win over the Dodgers. This is the first spring training in Floyd's career where he knows he will be in the rotation and is not competing for a job. There is a nice little video interview with Gavin on the White Sox website.

The Texas Rangers beat Cubs, 7-2, the big blow of the game was a grand slam home run by Greg Golson in his only at bat. Greg raised his spring average to .462, with 7 RBI, and hopefully raised a few eyebrows among the Texas brass!

The Athletics beat the Indians, 8-5 with Adrain Cardenas going 2 for 2 with an RBI. Adrian, who is just 21 years old, is now hitting .364 this spring.

The Mariners outslugged the Diamondbacks, 11-7. The good news is Chris Roberson had an RBI double and a walk, also scoring a run. The bad news is Bobby Korecky gave up 4 earned runs on 3 hits and made a throwing error in his 1 inning of work, both for Arizona.
