Sunday's action

The Red Sox shut out the Phillies, 3-0. Ryan Howard had a single and a walk, Jason Donald walked in his only at bat and Carlos Ruiz had double in 2 at bats. The Twins beat the Blue Jays 11-6. Randy Ruiz was 1 for 3 for Toronto. The Astros edged the Nationals, 1-0. Michael Bourn scored the only run, and stole his 7th base of the spring.

In a game that featured 15 home runs (15 home runs!! E-gads) the Angels outscored the Royals 18-12. As you can tell, there was no good news for the pitchers. Robinson Tejeda pitched 2 innings, and took his fair share of the abuse, 4 runs, 4 hits (2 homers), 2 walks, 2 Ks. Arizona beat San Diego 12-7. Chris Roberson was 0 for 1 for the Diamondbacks.

In minor league camp, the AAA Phillies lost to Toronto, 6-2. Joe Bisenius threw 2 scoreless inning, allowing just 2 hits, striking out 4. The AA team lost 8-6. Alex Concepcion started and went 2.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and 1 walk, striking out 4. Michael Taylor had a double and 2 RBI, Tuffy Gosewisch had a single and a triple, scored a run and drove one in, and Fidel Hernandez had 2 singles, with a run scored and an RBI also.

The high A team took a 10-8 decision, led by Derrick Mitchell, who was 3 for 4, including a triple. Luis Arzeno continues hot, with a single, a double and 2 RBI, and Jay Miller had a double and 2 RBI. The low A team was a 6-3 victor, led by inspired pitching by Justin De Fratus, who gave up just 1 hit in 3 innings of work, striking out 4. I think we will see De Fratus in Lakewood this season. Reliever Ryan Bergh also tossed 2 shut out innings.
