Tejeda, Floyd shine

On Friday, in Arizona, both Robinson Tejeda and Gavin Floyd picked up wins. Kansas City topped Texas, 4-1, with Tejeda starting and throwing 4 solid innings, giving up just 1 run on 4 hits, 3 walks, and 7 strike outs. Robinson's spring ERA is now an impressive 1.74. In the meantime, the Sox pounded the Padres, 15-4, with Floyd going 4 innings for Chicago. He allowed 2 runs, one on a homer by Cliff Floyd, on 2 hits and 1 walk, picking up 4 Ks. But the story does not end there, Gavin also had a single, and a walk, and scored both times!!

In Florida, the Pirates beat the Phillies, 6-5. Jason Donald continues to be hot at the plate, with a single and a triple in 5 at bats, scoring a run in the Phillie's 5-run 5th inning. Ryan Howard belted his 5th home run of the spring, a 2-run job. Howard now has 13 RBI this spring. Can we start the season now?!! Carlos Ruiz also had an RBI double in the big inning, and a walk in another at bat.

Michael Bourn had 2 walks and a sac bunt in Houston's 2-2 standoff with Washington and Greg Golson was 0 for 1 in Texas' split squad game loss to the Dodgers.

Brian Schlitter, who has been in camp with the Cubs, has been reassigned to minor league camp. Brian pitched in 2 games for the Cubs, throwing 2 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit and 2 walks. I had overlooked it, but I will put him on my list when the Cubs decide where he will start the season.
