Floyd sharp against LA

Gavin Floyd pitched 6 shut out innings against the Dodgers Saturday afternoon, leading the White Sox to a 6-1 win. Gavin allowed 7 hits and 2 walks in his stint, and was aided by 2 double plays, 2 would be base stealers being gunned down and 7 strike outs. Gavin will be ready to go in either game 2 or 3 of the season (it is yet to decided which) against the Royals in Chicago.

Meanwhile, in Florida, the Pirates bopped the Pillies 10-4. Ryan Howard hit a tremendous home run over the batting eye in dead center field, and Carlos Ruiz belted a double and a 3-run bomb to left. Jason Jaramillo had an RBI single for the Pirates and threw out 3 base runners during the game.

J.A Happ got some work in a minor league game, and although he gave up 5 runs in less than 6 innings, at one point he retired 13 of 14 and pitched better than the numbers would indicate.

Big time cuts to be announced today, we await word from Florida.......
