The Phillies brought up outfielder John Mayberry from AAA-Lehigh Valley and sent Sergio Escalona to the IronPigs to make room for him. Escalona pitched well, but there are only 25 spots on the active roster and the Phillies are looking for right handed hitters. Mayberry was hitting .275, with 8 home runs and 25 RBI for Lehigh Valley.
My condolences to Ann & Carol Becker on the HomeSide in Lakewood, Sergio's host family last year. They have been so excited this week for Sergio. In fact, they told me about the call-up 24 hours before I could verify it anywhere. Looks like I have another inside source! Thanks, girls!
