Michael Stutes pitched another fine game, but the Reading bullpen let it get away, and Connecticut beat Reading, 6-1. Stutes went 6 innings, allowing just 1 run on 4 hits and 3 walks, striking out 5 and lowering his ERA to 2.88. Reading had only 6 hits, half of which were singles by Quintin Berry (.241), Tuffy Gosewisch (.228) and Mike Spidale (.381).
Antonio Bastardo (1-1) will go Wednesday night.
Wednesday afternoon in Sacramento, Chris Roberson had 3 for 4, including a triple, his 3rd home run, 2 runs scored and a stolen base to lead Reno to a 5-3 win over the River Cats. Adrian Cardenas was 0 for 4 for Sacramento, and is 1 for 14 since the promotion from AA.
Lehigh Valley will play Buffalo in a doubleheader tonight, Kyle Kendrick in the opener, Carlos Carrasco in the nightcap, and Mattt Maloney will pitch for Louisville against Rochester.
