Sergio Escalona pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning for the Phillies. Sergio has now retired 7 major league hitters in 2 appearances, allowing just 1 hit, striking out 2.

The Phillies have also reassigned Antonio Bastardo to Lehigh Valley, sending Jason Anderson back to Reading. Speaking of Lehigh Valley, Drew Carpenter threw 6 shut out innings against Durham Thursday night, allowing 8 hits and 3 walks in the IronPigs' 6-2 win over the Bulls. In Reading, the New Britain Rock Cats completed the sweep of the R-Phils with a 7-1 victory. Struggling Pat Overholt (6.08 ERA) faced 3 hitters, allowing a walk and home run, recording just 1 out, and Francisco Butto worked a scoreless 9th.

The BlueClaws ended their road trip with a 6-1 loss in West Virginia, and return home tonight for a 4-game set over the holiday weekend with Greensboro. Lakewood leads Greensboro by 1.5 games in the SAL Northern Division. Jesus Sanchez pitched OK last night, going 6 innings, allowing all 6 runs, only 3 earned, on 9 hits, only 1 walk, and struck out 3. Ryan Airial threw 2 scoreless frames to finish for the 'Claws. The lone Lakewood run scored on a sac fly by Jeremy Hamilton, driving in Zack Collier, who had doubled. Anthony Gose was 1 for 4 and used the opportunity to steal his 26th base. Gose leads not only the SAL, but all of minor league baseball with mark!!

The Clearwater Threshers were rained out for the 4th consecutive day in Florida, but the Threshers and Dunedin do not play again in the first half, so these games may be lost unless they have playoff implications.

Baldwin went 5.1, giving up 4 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks, striking out 3 to improve to 3-2, 3.83 on the season.
