Carrasco, Maloney win

Carlos Carrasco and Matt Maloney, 2 of the main components of the BlueClaws 2006 Championship team, both won Thursday night. Carrasco won his 2nd start in a row for his new team, throwing 102 pitches over 7.2 innings, giving up 5 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks in Columbus' 9-6 win over Buffalo. Jason Donald homered for Columbus, scoring 4 times, and Lou Marson (also a member of the Championship squad) chipped in with a hit and a walk.

Meanwhile, Maloney also won his 8th game of the year with a 6.2 inning performance as Louisville topped Rochester, 5-2. Matt gave up 2 runs on 5 hits, striking out 9 and lowering his ERA to 2.71.

In Durham, Zack Segovia threw another shut out inning for Syracuse in Durham's 5-3 win over the Chiefs. Segovia has been awesome since his promotion, throwing a total of 14 innings in which he has allowed just 1 earned run on 8 hits and 4 walks, striking out 14. He has a win and a save and an ERA of 0.64. We could see Zack in DC in September!!

In Omaha, the Las Vegas 51s beat the Royals, 2-0 in 11 innings. Randy Ruiz (.323) had 2 hits and a walk, and drove in his 102nd run of the year, the insurance tally in the top of the 11th.

In Iowa City, Chris Roberson (.280) had a double and an RBI, and stole his 21st base of the year for Reno, as the Aces edged out the Cubs, 6-5.

In Portland, Mike Dubee continues to shine for the Altoona Curve, throwing another zero on the board Thursday night in the Sea Dog's 8-1 win. Dubee has a win and a save for Altoona, posting a 1.80 ERA in 18 appearances covering 23.2 innings for the Pittsburgh affiliate.
