The Charleston River Dogs made it 2 in a row over Lakewood with a 3-2, come from behind win Saturday night in South Carolina. Lakewood's starting pitching continues to be very strong, this time it was Trevor May who gave the Claws a chance to win with 5 solid innings. May gave up only 1 run on 2 hits and 3 walks, striking out 6, leaving the game with a 2-1 advantage. Jacob Diekman's resurgence continued with another scoreless frame before Ryan Bergh gave up the game winning runs in the 7th. Diekman has now pitched 13 innings in his last 9 appearances, allowing NO earned runs.
The struggling offense had just 8 hits, 3 by Moose Mattair (2 singles and a double, run scored), and 2 more by Harold Garcia, who has come off the DL hot and notched the only RBI.
Lakewood is now 2-2 in their rain shortened road trip, and Matthew Way (1-1, 0.64) will get the assignment on Sunday.
