tough luck continues for Maloney

Once again Matt Maloney pitched well enough to win, only to have his team come up short for him on the offense. Maloney (7-8, 2.72) and his Louisville teammates lost, 3-2 to the Charlotte Knights in Kentucky Saturday. Maloney went 7.2, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits (2 homers) and only 1 walk, striking out 5. Matt has lost 3 of his last 4 starts, despite not giving up more than 3 earned runs in any of them.

In Rochester, Michael Taylor drove in 2 runs, as the IronPigs topped the Red Wings, 7-1. In Memphis, Greg Golson has now sat out for a week for Oklahoma City, and while I have been unable to find out why, he has not been put on the DL, so I am assuming a minor injury and will continue to try to find out why. In Las Vegas, Kevin Howard (.299) had 2 hits and scored a run in the 51s' 8-7 win over Salt Lake.

Player movement in not only happening in the Phillies' system, the Oakland Athletics have promoted Adrian Cardenas to AAA-Sacramento. Adrian was hitting .326 for AA-Midland and was promoted earlier this year to Sacramento, where he struggled through 18 games, hitting just .177. We wish Adrian better luck this time!!
