Lafrenz double give Lakewood a win-63 and counting

Getting contributions from everyone in the line-up, the Lakewood BlueClaws rallied for 3 in the bottom of the 8th inning, thanks to a 2-out, bases loaded double by Kyle Lafrenz to take a 7-5 win from the Lake County Captains.

Anthony Gose sparked the team with 2 hits, a run scored, stolen base #63, and an outfield assist, Jim Murphy had 2 hits (and hit a blistering line drive into right field that could have easily been a third) as Lakewood basically picked each other up all evening long.

Trevor May started for the Claws and struggled through 4.2 inning, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. It could have been worse for Trevor, who worked his way out of further damage a couple of times. Jordan Ellis finished the 5th, and then threw 3 more innings, allowing 2 runs along the way, as the game went back and forth all evening. Ryan Bergh recorded his 12th save, with a 1-2-3 9th inning, picking up 2 Ks.

Lakewood is 1 short in the bullpen with the promotion of B.J. Rosenberg to Reading Thursday afternoon, but should receive another arm from Williamsport before they start their 8-game road trip Monday in Savannah. My guess (and hope) would be Eric Massingham, who has posted a 0.48 ERA for the Crosscutters, which is just 1 earned run in 18.1 innings, striking out 29 in the process.
