Park wins rotation spot, Happ goes to 'pen

Chan Ho Park has won the final spot in the rotation, for now, with J.A. Happ staying with the team for now to compete for 1 of 2 left handed bullpen spots. The Phillies also announced the release of Geoff Jenkins, and the hot topic this afternoon is Philadelphia's interest in Gary Sheffield, who was released in a surprise move by Detroit. The Tigers owe Sheffield his guarantee of $14 million, so the Phillies would only have to pay him an additional $400,000. Sheffield, who is 1 home run shy of the 500 mark, could be that right handed bat the Phillies are looking for to come off the bench, if he is willing to accept that role.

More minor league cuts made Monday, Edgar Garcia (in the photo with Segovia below) was the only notably HomeSider who did not survive.

The Diamondbacks reaasigned Chris Roberson to minor league camp.

John,

We took a shot at the BlueClaws 25-man roster.

Our best guess...
