Hamels end Braves domination

Cole Hamels (12-6) ended the Braves 7-game winning streak against the Phillies Tuesday night with a complete game, 5-hit shut out in Philadelphia's 3-0 win over Atlanta.  Cole struck out 5 and walked nobody in his 111 pitch effort. The Phillies scored all their runs in the 1st inning, on an RBI double by Domonic Brown and a 2-run home run by Ryan Howard, his 5th.  Brown also picked up an assist, throwing out Brian McCann at by playing a ball perfectly off the wall and making a fine throw to second base.  Michael Bourn (.286) was 1 for 4, a bunt single, for the Braves.

In Pittsburgh, the Diamondbacks defeated the Pirates, 10-4.  Mike Zagurski retired the only hitter he faced for Arizona........For the 3rd day in a row, Quintin Berry (.282) came off the bench late for the Tigers in their 6-5 win over New York........In San Diego, Adrian Cardenas made a pinch hitter appearance for the Cubs, and popped out in the Padres' 7-4 win over Chicago.

The win for Hamels is #47 for the HomeSide in the majors this year.
