Ruf belts #32

In Allentown, Cody Overbeck hit a home run, his 12th, and Jonathan Pettibone threw a 7-inning, 3-hit shut out to lead the IronPigs to a 1-0 win in the first game of a doubleheader against Toledo.   "Bone" is 4-0, 1.69 since being moved up from Reading.  Way to go, Jon!!!  Mario Hollands was moved up to start the 2nd game, and took the loss, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits in just 3 innings in a 5-2 Mud Hens' win.  Hollands has now pitched for Lakewood, Clearwater, Reading and Lehigh Valley in 2012.

Another day, another home run for Darin Ruf.   Darin (.311) hit #32 for Reading in the R-Phils 11-9 win in Harrisburg.  Cody Asche had 3 hits, including 2 homers, and drove in 5 runs to lead the Reading attack.  The victory ties Reading with New Britain in the race for the final playoff spot.

In Lakewood, Maikel Franco had 3 of the BlueClaws' 6 hits in a 4-2 loss to Delmarva.  I cannot say enough about Franco and the way he has come on for about 2 months now hitting the cover off the ball.  Maikel now has 78 RBI on the year, with 52 of them coming in the second half.

In Lancaster, Domingo Santana (.294)  had 3 hits, including a double and an RBI (HomeSide leading 87) for the JetHawks in their 13-6 win over Rancho Cucamonga..........In Fresno, Jesus Merchan (.404) hit his 3rd home run for the Padres, as Tucson shut out the Grizzlies, 6-0.........In Omaha, the Sounds shut out the Storm Chasers, 7-0.  Jesus Sanchez (1.69) tossed another scoreless frame for Nashville.........In Sacramento, Michael Taylor (.291)  had 2 hits and a walk for the River Cats in their 6-2 win over Las Vegas.  Jason Jaramillo, released last week by the Brewers and signed by the Athletics the other day, made his debut with a double for the Cats.
