Ruf homers for 5th straight game!

In Reading, Darin Ruf hit his Eastern League leading 29th home run, and has now gone deep in 5 consecutive games, in the Phillies 6-5 loss to Trenton.  Ruf (.313) has homered 11 times in the last 13 games, an amazing number, and now has a HomeSide leading 83 RBI.  If he keeps this up much longer, he will make a run at Ryan Howard's team record 37, set in 2004.   With the loss, Reading (66-57) falls 1 game behind New Britain in the race for the last playoff spot.

In Buffalo, Jonathan Pettibone improved to 3-0 since his promotion, pitching 7 solid innings for the Pigs in their 4-1 win over the Bisons.  "Bone" allowed just 1 run, scattering 7 hits and a walk, and picked up 2 hits, including a double and an RBI, himself!!  Sebastian Valle (.235) had 3 hits for Lehigh Valley, who trail Pawtucket by 2 games for the lone wild card spot in the league.

In Tampa, Chris Duffy had 3 hits, and Anthony Hewitt, Peter Lavin, and Albert Cartwright drove in 2 runs each for the Threshers, as Clearwater pounded the Yankees, 9-0.  Mario Hollands went 6 shut out innings for Clearwater, while Tim Kennelly, Juan Sosa, and Kenny Giles all tossed scoreless relief.

In Charlotte, Greg Golson (.274) hit his 5th home run of the year for the Knights in their 5-3 win over Louisville..........In Frisco, Josh Outman (1-5)  threw 7.1 innings for the Tulsa Drillers in their 4-2 loss to the RoughRiders.  Outman allowed 3 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks, striking out 7 for the Drillers.
