On Saturday, the Cubs activated Lendy Castillo from the DL, and the Diamondbacks designated Mike Zagurski for assignment. Castillo last pitched for Chicago May 1.
In New York, Michael Bourn (.291) had 3 hits, scored 2 runs and knocked in another one, as the Braves pounded the Mets, 9-3............In Toronto, Anthony Gose (.203) struck out in all 4 of his at bats, having a hard time hitting the curve ball, in the Blue Jays' 5-2 loss to the Yankees. In a related note, Jays outfielder Jose Bautista, whose injury has given Gose the opportunity, is not healing as well as expected and his return is being pushed back indefinitely. I would not be surprised if Anthony gets to stay with the big team for the remainder of the season.............In Cleveland, where the Indians were reeling to 11 straight losses, the Tribe has seemed to turn it around. Yesterday they beat Boston, 5-3, for their 3rd win in the last 4 games after the losing streak. Jason Donald was 1 for 4, and Lou Marson drove in a run for the Indians.............In Philadelphia, Ryan Howard (.216) drove in Domonic Brown (.286) with a run in the 1st inning, but that was all the Phillies would manage in a 4-1 loss to the Cardinals. Brian Rosenberg came on with 2 on and nobody out in the 7th, and got David Freese to hit into a double play before hitting Yadier Molina and walking Rafeal Furcal to end his night.
