In a game I did not see from Friday, Alfredo Simon (2.52), who lost to the Phillies Thursday night, threw 3 more innings on Friday against the Cardinals, allowing a run on 4 hits and 1 walk in the Reds' 8-5 loss to St. Louis.
In San Francisco, Michael Bourn (.289) had 2 hits and a walk, and drove in 2 runs, as the Braves beat the Giants, 7-3........In Cleveland, Lou Marson (.235) had a hit and walk for the Indians in their 3-1 win over New York................In Phoenix, Mike Zagurski gave up a run on 1 hit in 1.1 innings of relief for the Diamondbacks, in the Padres' 9-3 win over Arizona.
In Philadelphia, John Mayberry drove in 3 runs, and Antonio Bastardo completed a 1-2-3 8th (his first since late June) in the Phillies 4-3 win over the Nationals. Ryan Howard (.250) was 0 for 4, and Domonic Brown (.270) struck out in a pinch hit appearance.
