Before Friday's games began, the Phillies traded Joe Blanton to the Dodgers for future considerations, and recalled BJ Rosenberg from Lehigh Valley. Also, the Athletics recalled Michael Taylor from AAA-Sacramento.
In Philadelphia, it was Kyle Kendrick to step in for Blanton and pitch the first 4 innings against the Diamondbacks. Kyle's 22 scoreless innings streak ended when he allowed a run in the second inning. In all, he gave up 3 runs, 2 earned on 5 hits and was charged with the 4-2 loss. Rosenberg, who has been starting games for Lehigh Valley, came on and threw 2 perfect innings, striking out 3 of the 6 hitters he faced, consistently hitting 95 MPH on the gun. Antonio Bastardo also threw a 1-2-3 inning. Not much going on offensively, with Ryan Howard (just .191 so far) going 0 for 4, and Domonic Brown (2 for 11) picking up 1 hit.
In Detroit, Quintin Berry (.285) had a single and a double, scored 2 runs and drove in another (#24) as part of a 16 hit night for the Tigers in their 10-2 win over the Indians...............In Atlanta, Michael Bourn (.290) had a walk, stole his 29th base, and scored a run for the Braves, as Atlanta beat his former team, 4-1...............In Oakland, the Athletics posted their 13th walk off win of the year with a 15th inning run to take a 5-4 win over Toronto. Anthony Gose was 0 for 6 for the Blue Jays, and Michael Taylor struck out in a pinch hitting appearance.
