Hamels losses as Phillies are shut out

In Washington Thursday, the Phillies dropped a 3-0 game to the Nationals, wasting a fine outing from Cole Hamels.  Hamels (11-6) allowed 3 runs on 8 hits and 1 walk over 7 innings of work, striking out 9.  Philadelphia was only able to manage 3 hits, with Carlos Ruiz (0 for 4) and Domonic Brown (0 for 2, walk),  and Ryan Howard (0 for 1 as pinch hitter) coming up empty.

In Atlanta, Michael Bourn (.292) had a hit, a walk, and scored a run for the Braves in their rain delayed 6-1 win over the Marlins...........In Kansas City, Lou Marson (.250)  was 0 for 4 for Cleveland in their 7-6 loss to the Royals........In Oakland, Anthony Gose was 1 for 3 for the Blue Jays in the Athletics' 4-1 win.
