Carrasco, Savery roughed up

In Reading last night, Carlos Carrasco took to the hill, coming off his best outing of the year last Monday, and was not quite up to that standard. He went 7, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits, walking 5 (too many) and striking out 5. Altoona won the game 5-2, as Reading struggled to get key hits. Javon Moran had a big game, 4 hits including a double , an RBI (his 9th) and a stolen base (his 8th for Reading, 10th overall without being caught). John Soumi was the catcher last night, and is being moved to Lehigh Valley today, so that Orlando Guevara can be activated and placed with Reading. Soumi's promotion once again inactivates Tim Gradoville and makes him a coach, this time with the IronPigs.

In Clearwater, Joe Savery did not have his best stuff, either, surrendering 5 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits and 3 walks in just 3 frames to fall to 1-3, 3.91 on the year, as Jupiter topped the Threshers, 7-6. Andrew Cruse pitched the next 3 innings, allowing 2 runs, and then Brian Schlitter pitched 2 scoreless frames. John Urick (.283) was the only Thresher with more than 1 hit, including his 3rd home run of the season. The RBI was Urick's 19th, which ties him for the club lead with Welinson Baez, who is getting in a grove (11 for 33, .333) the last 10 games.
