BlueClaws win nightcap to gain split

After being limited to just 4 hits in a 7-1 loss in the opener of their doubleheader Sunday, the Lakewood BlueClaws rapped out 13 hits en route to a 9-3 win to gain a split. Anthony Gose led the attack with 2 singles, a double, a walk, scoring 2 runs and stealing his 47th base. Travis D'Arnaud, Zack Collier, and Troy Hanzawa all had 2 hits, with Hanzawa hitting his 1st home run! D'Arby Myers had a hit and 3 walks to contribute to the win, and was on base 5 times during the doubleheader.

Freddy Ballestas made the spot start, going 4 innings and allowing just 1 earned run on 3 hits and 2 walks. Jared Simon was perfect for 2 frames, recording the win, and Rob Roth gave up a run on 2 hits in his only inning.

Vladimir De Los Santos home run accounted for Lakewood's only tally in the opener. Justin De Fratus' transition back into the rotation continues to be a difficult one, as he gave up 5 runs on 9 hits in just 3 innings of work, walking 1 and hitting 2 more. Jordan Ellis gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and a walk in his inning, but Jacob Diekman seems to be getting the hang of his new delivery, tossing 2 scoreless frames.
