Claws win wild one

The Lakewood BlueClaws scored 3 runs in the 9th inning for a 9-6 win over the Kannapolis Intimidators Wednesday night. The win moves Lakewood's overall record to 50-32 on the season, and 8-6 in the second half.

Lakewood got out to a 6-0 advantage behind Heitor Correa, who was sailing along for 6 innings. Jim Murphy had 3 walks and 2 hits, including his team leading 9th home run, driving in 2 more, and scoring 4 times. Travis Mattair, Zack Collier and Troy Hanzawa added 2 hits each for Lakewood.

Correa cruised through the first 6, but the first 4 hitters he faced reached base in the 7th inning, and the big Brazilian had run out of gas. All 4 hitters scored, and 2 more as well against Freddy Ballestas, and before the 7th inning was over, Kannapolis had tied the game at 6-6. this set the stage for the 9th inning rally, with Collier getting the clincher, a 2-run single to give Lakewood the final margin of victory. B.J. Rosenberg pitched the final 2 innings and recorded the victory, his 6th of the year.

Rosenberg could be my favorite BlueClaw right now.
