Myers, Claws still hot

The Lakewood BlueClaws won their 3rd straight on this road trip with an 8-1 pounding of the Tourists Friday night. Once again, D'Arby Myers led the offense, with a single, a double, a triple and a stolen base. D'Arby is 8 for 12 in the 3 games on the trip so far, is 10 for his last 16, and 16 for 40 (that's .400) in his last 10 starts.

Harold Garcia, Jeremy Hamilton, Moose Mattair and Troy Hanzawa all had a pair of hits, and it seems Jesus Sanchez has had a pitcher inside of him all along. Now 6-1 in his last 8 starts, and 7-5, 3.51 overall, Sanchez has blossomed into a force in this rotation and, along with Correa, May, and De Fratus(the last time) makes Lakewood not miss Jon Velasquez and Tyler Cloyd so much.

Lakewood is now 58-38 overall and 16-12 in the second half, trailing Kannapolis by just 1.5 games in their bid to win BOTH halves.

The Anthony Gose countdown is getting close. Anthony had 1 hit Friday, driving in 2 runs, and stole 2 more bases, giving him 56 on the year. It looks like Chris Roberson's 6-year old record of 59 could fall in Greenville, South Carolina this week.

Speaking of Roberson, he had a hit (.298) for Reno in their 8-2 win in Fresno Friday, stealing his 18th base in the process. In Tacoma, Randy Ruiz (.325, RBI #89) and Kevin Howard (.304, 2 doubles, 2 runs, RBI) had 2 hits each, but the 51s lost to the Rainiers, 8-4.
