In Palm Beach, the Threshers won both of their games against the Cardinals Wednesday, 2-1 in the opener and 7-1 in the nightcap. As is evident in the scores, the pitching was once again the story for Clearwater. Drew Naylor dominated the first game, going the distance and allowing just 1 run on 4 hits, NO walks, striking out 6 to improve to 5-6, 4.11 for the year. Mike Cisco (4-1, 2.68) was the story with 5 good strong innings, 1 unearned run, 4 hits, 1 walk. Walter Tejeda got 2 outs before the rain ended the game prematurely.
Tim Kennelly (.314) had 3 hits, including 2 doubles and drove in 4 runs on the night, Mike Durant had an RBI double to drive in the deciding run in game 1, and Matt Rizzotti (.263) had a triple, his 8th home run, scored twice and drove in 2 in the late game. Javis Diaz (.290) had 2 hits in the nightcap and Fidel Hernandez (.280) had 3 hits on the night for Clearwater.
Clearwater is 7-0 in the second half!!
In Las Vegas Wednesday, the 51s defeated Reno 12-6. Randy Ruiz (.322) had 3 doubles (he has 33 2-baggers) and drove in 3 more runs (that's 70 RBI, if you are counting, and I am!). Chris Roberson (.290) was 2 for 4 with a walk, and scored twice for Reno.
