Some quick notes from Sunday's action:
1- Sergio Escalona was returned to Lehigh Valley as the Phillies activated Scott Eyre off of the DL Sunday. Escalona has been called up 6 separate times this season, and can probably get from Philadelphia to Allentown with his eyes closed at this point!!
2- Gio Gonzalez won his first major league game this year, and the 2nd of his career, as Oakland beat Cleveland, 5-2. Gio went 6, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits and 1 walk, striking out 8. Gonzalez is starting because Josh Outman had Tommy John surgery and will miss at least a year of action. Too bad for Josh, who was getting his chance and making the most of it, going 4-1 with a 3.48 ERA in 14 games for the Athletics.
3- Michael Bourn, scheduled to have a day off, got into Houston's game as a pinch runner in the 8th inning and promptly stole his league leading 27th base! (Speed kills!!) Houston beat the Giants, 7-1.
